Star UNC Defensive Tackle Suspended Indefinitely

2 Sep

The NCAA have been conducting a probe on Marvin Austin, a senior defensive tackle at the University of North Carolina, for his alleged relationship with an agent and trips he allegedly took during the offseason. On Monday, the university released a statement that formally announced that they are suspending him indefinitely.

They went on to make it clear that this suspension has nothing to do with the probe the NCAA is conducting.  Head Coach Butch Davis said “This decision is not a result of the ongoing NCAA review.” He further went on to say in a statement that, “Marvin has violated team rules and has neglected his responsibilities to the team.”

Austin will not play in the season opener.

This is sad news for me to hear because Marvin is a fellow alum of Ballou Senior High School. And a part of the school’s first football championship.
