Urban Meyer Back at it Again

6 Mar

Ohio State new head football coach is back to what he loves best, recruiting. He has his eyes on the quick, speedy wide receiver LaQuon Treadwell from Crete, Illinois. Treadwell is a 6`3, 185 pound wide receiver that runs a 4.40 40-yard dash.

Treadwell is a prospect in the 2013 class.

Last season, he totaled 75 receptions for 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is clearly a complete mold of Meyer’s ideal wide receiver.

He has offers from Arkansas, Alabama, Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Minnesota, Notre Dame, USC, Illinois, and Oklahoma State.

Recruiting Spotlight: Joseph Scelfo

20 Mar

For most college football programs offensive line is their top priority. For one school this won’t be a problem. Whoever signs North Oconee High School’s Joseph Scelfo will get a solid lineman who can play both center and guard. This 6`2 275 pound guard has both power and excellent technique. But more importantly he has great leadership skills and superb academic success (3.43 GPA).

Check him out. Number 66

The cornerstone of any successful team requires a solid group of offensive linemen. This collective group of men is responsible for the success or failure of each offensive play.

He began his high school career as a starting sophomore and never looked back. Scelfo is a leader on the Titans offensive unit. Registering a career high 11 pancakes in a game, Joseph Scelfo is the truth.

As a result of his exceptional play he has been the recipient of All region and All Area awards. His play hasn’t gone unnoticed, schools including UAB, Marshall, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Miami, UL Monroe, MTSU, Furman, Wofford, Syracuse, Samford, UCLA, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech has begun sending him mail.

His sports heroes include Todd Mclure, Tony Gonzalez, Jeff Saturday, Walter Jones, and Chris Scelfo. His play reminds me of linemen like Walter Jones, Jon Runyan, and Larry Allen. This kid has pure talent and an enormous upside. A great addition to whatever university he decides to attend.

Expected Graduation Year: 2012

Weekend College Football Preview

12 Nov

This week in college football has been a rocky road. And at the completion of the week we will find ourselves having to watch a bunch of unappealing games. No I won’t consider the Auburn game as one of this weeks must anticipated games. Mr. Newton on the other hand will… However, there is a game in the SEC this week that intrigue me a little bit. The Tennessee vs. Ole Miss game is underrated but it would be great. Hahaha…that was a joke however, I will allow you to see the preview. Other games that are really important at least slightly are the Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina, Oklahoma State vs. Texas, Penn State vs. Ohio State (game of the week), TCU vs. San Diego State, Oregon vs. California games.

New Mascot for Ole Miss

15 Oct

The search for the new Ole Miss mascot is over. The winning concept selected by the University of Mississippi selection committee is the BEAR. The official name for the new mascot at Ole Miss is the “Rebel Black Bear”.

Many fans are upset over the change from “Colonel Reb”. Guess the school wanted to be a little more politically correct. And bring the school mascot out of the 1800’s.

Tough Lost for Ole Miss

5 Sep

Ole Miss had a disappointing day Saturday. The Rebels took an “L”. That’s not the surprising news. The lost came from a Football Championship Subdivision team. The Div. 1-AA Jacksonville State Gamecocks won the game in double overtime 49-48 to give the Ole Miss Rebels its first loss of the season. The game was a home game in Oxford.
